How To Use This Online Community Center

Thank you for visiting the Beyond War community center. Please take a moment to look at the guide below. If you have any questions that we do not answer here please feel free to contact us.

1) How do I add myself to the directory? To add yourself to the directory simply go to the "Main" page and click on "Sign Up" in the upper right. Beyond War members commit to three guiding principles & core practices. We reserve the right to remove anyone whose postings or other activities do not demonstrate acceptance of these guiding principles.

2) Is there any fee for joining Beyond War? No. Membership is completely free.

3) How do I edit my profile in the directory? To edit your profile click on "My Settings" in the upper right hand corner. The more information you provide about yourself & your peacebuilding work, the easier it will be to connect with other members.

4) How can I create or respond to a blog? To start your own blog click on "+ Add Blog Post" beneath the blog listings. Please note that blog postings on the site should focus on general topics of interest to the broad Beyond War community (peacebuilding, mediation, reconciliation, conflict resolution, etc.). Postings that are inappropriate or of a commercial nature will be deleted and may lead Beyond War to block you from the community center.

5) How can I create or reply to a forum? To start your own forum discussion click on "Forum" and then "+ Start a discussion" in the upper right area. To contribute to an existing discussion click on "Forum" and pick a topic that interests you. You can respond to any of the postings by clicking on "Reply to This" at the bottom.

6) How can I help Beyond War grow? Members can do many things to help us grow:
* Click on "Invite" to tell your friends and others about us.
* Get a "Badge" (in the bottom right) that you can put on websites, blogs & emails, or add a link to this directory: http://beyondwar.ning.com/.
* Help develop this directory with your own photos, videos, blogs, forums, and other features to make this a rich & interesting place.
* Join "Action Teams" in your neighborhood & interest areas to help move Beyond War peacebuilding work in every community & throughout the world.

7) What if I see inappropriate content? This community center encourages open interaction among members. If a member posts offensive or inappropriate material, the member may be dropped. Please contact us if you have questions or concerns about something on the site.

8) How do I remove myself from the directory? Login and click on "My Settings" in the upper right. At the bottom right of the network settings page you will see a "Leave Beyond War" toolbar to click.

9) How can I manage privacy settings? You can adjust your privacy settings at anytime by logging in and clicking "My Settings" in the upper right. You have the option of only allowing your network friends to see your blog, pictures, etc., and control what type of e-mail updates you would like to receive (there is an option to receive no e-mails).

10) Please share your success stories. For example if you made a new contact, found a new "Action Team", learned new ideas, etc. -- it would be wonderful for you to share a brief summary of the experience. You can contribute your feedback in the "Forum" section. Thanks again for supporting the work of Beyond War.
