Beyond War

Our first pilot test started this month in the Lake Villa, Illinois public library. Pictures to follow.

The library produced cover pictures of the titles in their collection and mounted them on foam board with folding stands for us. Also, they welcomed having us produce cover pictures of items that were not in their collection, which greatly expanded our freedom to tailor the presentation.

Randi approached a second local library that said they had a policy of not allowing displays by outside groups, but they said we could talk to their appropriate program director. They are working with us to get some kind of presence in their library too. Wonder how much we will run into that in other places around the country? Certainly something to watch for in our pilot testing.

It is very exciting to have our first test of the library display. Congratulations Randi for arranging it!

Photocopying book covers is a super way to display the books we are recommending while still allowing the library copies to be checked out. It also takes care of the problem that a particular library may not own some of the titles. This way, people can request them by Interlibrary Loan and/or the library may choose to buy them. We will get to the photocopying ASAP.
