Our Vision
Imagine what it would be like if every city, town and village throughout the land had a public gathering place dedicated to peace, reconciliation, forgiveness and healing.

People will go there, alone and in groups, to think about and celebrate the stories, heroes, tools and ideas of peace. School teachers will take classes on field trips there.

It will become like an interconnected network of radio towers transmitting peace in every direction, blanketing the land with the beginnings of a new culture of peace.

The Peace Garden Project will help us bring this vision into reality. We will help each other to build our gardens and make them living places of peace in all of our communities.

What Is A Peace Garden?
A peace garden is a public place for peace. Physically, it can be anything from a small plat of ground to an elaborate construction. It can have strictly ornamental plants and flowers, or be a planting of trees.

Or, it can be a community garden or orchard for growing fruits and vegetables. However you choose to build your garden is up to you and your community. It will fit your landscape, your community and your purposes.

What makes it into a peace garden is your intention. Every peace garden will have the "May Peace Prevail On Earth" statement or prayer written on a plaque or stone or other object in one or more languages. This is our common will.

What Is A Living Place?
In addition to a physical location, our goal is to make each garden a gathering place for peace in our communities. It will take creative attention to programs, resources and events and building of broad local coalitions to help each garden reach its ever growing potential as a center of peace in the community.

One of the purposes of our network website is to support the ongoing work of community building around each peace garden with the sharing of tools and resources for making this happen.
