The bedrock of our fundraising strategy, like everything we do, is to build relationships. We are interested in helping people, foundations and other groups who share our interests in peace.

Our plan is to build a fundraising dimension into everything we do. This includes all of our communications, events, materials, websites, work tools, and other facilities. It also involves developing the capacity of our members and action teams to be successful fundraisers.

Within this overarching concept, our strategic plan focuses on four distinct categories of funding sources: Individual Contributions; Foundation Grants; Large Donor Gifts; and Endowment Funds.

This team currently has three separate workgroups for three of these contribution categories:

Foundations Group - Coordinator, Kathy White

Individuals Group - Coordinator, Mora Rogers

Large Donors Group - Coordinator, Martin Jones

We are always looking for people with special skills, experience or interests in a wide range of areas such as graphics and design, writing and communications, social networking and online activities, and fundraising and development. You can help make all of us so much better at what we do!

I am very interested in applying for grants for the Library Project but do not want to interfere with other fund raising efforts. It will be a great asset to hear what the teams' vision, focus, and choice of sources will be.

Winslow: I think action needs to be referenced to the overarching fundraising plan.

Elaine: Yes, You could post those documents as a discussion.

Yes, Elaine, I think it would be great to have that info on fundraising accessible to all of us, thanks. Also I am unclear about self-initiation vs. following orders. If I am on the Grants Committee, am I waiting for Bill S. to give us tasks? Or is the first step to have someone volunteer to chair the Committee and that person initiates?

I have a series of documents from a workshop on fundraising that was designed particularly for the community mediation centers in Oregon, but they are applicable to any non-profit fundraising. The workshop was put on by some fundraising consultants who specialize in helping non-profits. People who attended thought it was great. Would people like me to post the documents? I'm not sure how to get them on this page, but I will try to figure it out.
