Beyond War

Credo is a collection of short ideas and antidotes on a variety of topics. It covers many topics from life to death and every problem and major part of life between. Many of the short words of wisdom come straight from the bible or have very religious overtones. Based on this I do not think that everyone in the library would enjoy this book, however I would say that if you have a larger background in monotheistic religion it would be a good read. Based on this fact I would have to say that I personally didn’t like Credo because of the religious overtones. So I believe that most people that feel the way that I do about organized religion might also feel it holds very little validity or alienation. The book read very fast in every section; it was almost like one of those books that gives you a new saying for the day but without the calendar.

As far as following the beyond war principles it does carry the ideas of we are all one and beyond war. The passages that it takes from the bible do center very much on the idea of we are all one. There is a whole section in the book about why war is obsolete; this would be the main reason why I think this book was recommended. All in all I would still place the book with a primary focus in we are all one because of the passages from the bible and other antidotes taken from his own writings and ideas as well as others.

Good Conversation Questions after reading the book
1. What is your favorite or most meaningful passage and why?
2. What is the most life applicable passage in your opinion?
3. What passage do you think might not be the best for the book?
4. What section best to pass on to others in your opinion?
